05/2023 ============================== SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
The Security Supervisor will be responsible for direct supervision of Resident Supervisors and Unit Supervisor positions and will complete annual and other evaluations.
Develops and prepares the operations bi-weekly staff schedule, facilitates client Orientation Class and provides hands-on training of all new Resident Supervisor and Unit Supervisor staff.
Schedules client recreational activities and agency shakedowns.
Reviews Kronos timekeeping on a day-to-day basis.
Implements client sanctions as needed.
Rotates work shift in order to meet with staff on a regular basis.
Assists with PREA investigations and audits.
Performs other related duties as required.
Duties:
The duties listed below are intended to illustrate work functions performed by the position.
I.
Staff Supervisory Duties:
1.
Supervises, trains, and directs Resident Supervisor and Unit Supervisor positions.
2.
Defines expectations and evaluates performance of employees under his/her direct supervision to encourage and promote employee growth and maximize services rendered.
Submits training, special and annual job performance evaluations on employees supervised within established time limits.
3.
Initiates disciplinary action whenever necessary to ensure the effectiveness and integrity of the program.
Maintains documentation and submits necessary forms regarding any action to the Deputy Director of Operations for review.
4.
Responds to disputes and complaints involving employees.
Maintains documentation.
5.
Assists in the recruiting, selecting, and hiring of qualified operations personnel for SRCCC by conducting interviews with Deputy Director.
6.
Ensure shift post orders are followed.
Updates post orders as necessary.
7.
For payroll purposes, performs day-to-day review of Resident Supervisor staff within Kronos timekeeping.
II.
Program Duties:
1.
Maintains an atmosphere conducive to agency philosophy and humane living conditions.
2.
Processes sanctions levied toward clients.
3.
Remain aware of client treatment plans and needs, and assists clients in working toward completion of contractual objectives.
4.
Schedules client recreational activities, both in-house and off-site.
Coordinates the scheduling of additional staff needed to supervise and provide transportation for recreational activities.
Documents all activities regarding these matters per agency policy.
5.
Coordinates client scheduled visitation.
Ensures established policies and procedures relative to visitation are adhered to and that required documentation and visitor logs are completed.
6.
May assist with alcohol and other drug testing as assigned by shift.
7.
May be required to monitor client business calls (i.
e.
, to attorney, clergy, prospective employer, off-site counselor, etc.
).
8.
Responsible for handling crisis situations in program, follows policies and procedures and calls for assistance when necessary.
Documents all such situations per agency policy.
9.
On a daily basis, meets with residents on both wings to exchange information and assess potential situations.
III.
Operational Duties:
1.
Ensures that security, safety and sanitation policies and procedures are clearly understood and adhered to by subordinates and clients.
2.
Reads shift briefing daily.
Ensures entries are written according to policy and procedures.
3.
Oversees staff conducting visual head counts, isolation checks, facility and vehicle shakedowns, and resident searches according to established procedures.
Documents all said activities.
4.
Maintains consistency in enforcing contraband control policies, ensures the dispersing of client mail and packages are according to agency policy and within resident constitutional rights guidelines.
5.
Assists in conducting and documenting monthly fire drills and other emergency drills.
6.
Oversees and/or conducts inspections of all areas responsible for to ensure they are kept clean, orderly and in good repair.
Notifies appropriate staff of difficulties.
7.
Exchanges information with on coming and departing shifts.
8.
Facilitates Orientation class for both male and female clients and documents.
IV.
General Duties:
1.
Understands and adheres to policy and procedural requirements of SRCCC.
2.
Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to all information obtained and processed in the operation of the SRCCC program.
3.
Maintains accurate and thorough files of information for documentation necessary for reports which can be utilized by the Deputy Director and Director.
4.
Supplements facility coverage.
5.
Subject to being called into work at any time due to emergency situations and/or coverage needs.
6.
Meets with the Deputy Director of Operations on a regular basis for a mutual exchange of work- related current event.
Meets with employees under his or her supervision on a regular basis for a mutual exchange of current events relative to the general operation of the program to share information relative to their specific areas of responsibility.
Participates in scheduled Supervisor's meetings, All-Staff meetings, and other meetings as required.
7.
Works with the Operations Director to continuously upgrade the effectiveness and efficiency of the facility's security and other areas of responsibility.
8.
Utilizes audio-visual equipment on an as needed basis.
Maintains general knowledge of equipment and its use.
Notifies Managing Information Specialist of equipment malfunction, tampering and supply needs.
Contacts maintenance department for all other equipment and furnishings for repair needs.
9.
Completes a minimum of forty- (40) hours of in-services training per year, including 24 hours of evidence-based treatment.
Participates in seminars and continuing education programs when appropriate and feasible.
10.
May be required to provide transport assistance to residents.
11.
Assists in the development of policy and procedures.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
Must have valid Ohio Operator's License and must have a good driving record.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years experience in a correctional facility for adults.
Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of minimum jail standards from State of Ohio is preferred.
Skills:
Ability to work professionally with subordinates co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to recognize abnormal conditions and take appropriate action.
Ability to maintain records and prepare routine reports.
Ability to work under stressful and demanding conditions.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to effectively manage time and organize workload.

Ability to organize, plan, supervise, direct residents in their performance of housekeeping assignments.
Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of subordinates.
Ability to schedule daily, weekly, and monthly work.
Skill in planning and problem resolution.
